Peter Rees, Brenda Rees, Harald Olsen, 26 – 10. Both shots 88 – 78 and points 10 – 2 in favor of Diamonds. Another good away win
13/1 Rubies visited the San Luis Romulans and kept the pressure on the league leaders. Win on 3 tracks and lose on 2 tracks. Like the Diamonds, both shots 105 – 75 and points 8 – 4 in favor of Rubies. The winners were Sandra Heath, Brian Elkington, Barry Martyn 27 – 11. John Cleal, Max Holmes, Richard Lerwin, 22 – 12. Jaqui Denman, Tony Denman, Steve Hibberd, 22 – 13. A very good win.

Alicante South League: Monday the 13th SL Trekkers played at home against El Rancho Raiders and after a fairly even start they achieved an excellent result: 10 points-2, 82 shots-61. Winners: Dave Louis, Brian and Lin Miller 15-10, Mary and Phil Lockley, Ralph Jones 13-11, Ken Stringfellow, Kevin McKenna, Pete Ayres 15-10, Jan Pocock, Sheila Cammack, Jim Gracie 26-15.
SL Romulans had a tough morning, at home against Quesada Rubies; finishing 4 points-8, 75 shots-105.
Winners: Pauline Johnson, Ngaio Baldwin, Lyndon Johnson 20-18, Lesley and Wayne Howlett, David Whitworth 19-16. SL Klingons – GOODBYE.
Winter League: Wednesday the 15th San Luis was at home and had a tough battle against San Miguel taking 4 points-6, 80 shots-75. Congratulations to the winners: Cathy Morrisroe, Bill Webb, Noel Morrisroe, Scott Malden 38-4. Our Berleen team: Chris Jackson, Dave Louis, Peter Baldwin, Lyndon Johnson, won 16-14 to take the 2 points.
SL Leopards had a bad day at the office, away from home against San Miguel Comanches, 0 points-12, 63 shots-102.
SL Lions were at home against Country Bowls Geckos and had some close battles, but unfortunately not close enough, finishing on 2 points, 10, 82 shots, 107. Winners: Peter Ayres, Carol and Gary Thorpe 20-15. SL Tigres – GOODBYE.
It hasn’t been the best results this week for some of our teams, our fingers are cold and being bundled up for a cold start to the morning doesn’t exactly help, but we’ll certainly all be up and ready for the games, again next week, whatever. The weather!
San Miguel Bowls – Week ending January 17, 2025 – Barry Jones
Monday brought another local derby against the Marlins and Stingrays. It was a victory for the Stingrays 8 – 4, 90 shots to 75.
The best winning rink was Chris Tuohy, John King and Hank Van Essen 32 – 6.
Both the Dolphins and the Orcas had breaks.
On Wednesday, San Miguel traveled to the top of the San Luis table in the winter league, San Miguel came out with a 6 – 4 victory winning on 3 rinks, but lost the overall shots 80 – 75. The best winning rink was Mary Whitelock, Dori Svanbergsson, Steve Parr and Gail Willshire 24 -11.
On Friday, the Commanches played at home against the St. Louis Leopards, where they obtained a great victory by taking 12 points, 102 shots against 63. The best triple winner was Terry Lock, Gill Brimley and Niel West 23 – 14.
Also on Friday San Miguel had another local Derby with the Navajos playing the Apaches, where the Apaches placed in the top 10 – 2, 103 shots to 67, the best winning trip for the Apaches was Graham Barwell, Lynn Greenland and Fred Willshire 26 – 7.
We remind you that Wasps sessions take place on Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 2.00pm: €5 for an afternoon of bowling with shoes and bowls available to borrow.
