Costa Blanca South Garden Bowling Summary – December 8, 24

San Miguel Bowling Club with Barry Jones

On Monday all four teams were in action.

The Dolphins were home to the St. Louis Klingons and won 8 – 4, 102 shots to 82. The best three-point winner with a fantastic score of 39 – 5 was Allan Patterson, Jan Farmer and Derek Farmer.

In the afternoon the Orcas were at home against the Country Bowls Flamingoes scoring a tie at 6, 69 shots to 80, the best triple winner was Stan North, Sheila Booth and Mike Douglas 15 – 9.

The Marlins were visiting Phoenix BG and no results were released.

Finally, the stripes went to Vistabella Drivers where the points were shared 6 – 6, 84 shots to 91. The best triple winners were Terry Lock, John King and Barry Jones 20 – 13.

On Wednesday San Miguel had a break in the Winter League.

On Friday all four teams were in action.

On Friday morning the Navajos played at the Quesada Swans home where they won 8 – 4, 79 shots to 73. The best triple winners were Anne Young, Barry Jones and Dave Young 22 -8.

The Cherokees were at Greenland Elms, where they won 10 – 2, 85 shots to 70. The best three-point winners were Tina Taylor, Dave Askew and Hank Van Essen 23 – 19.

On Friday afternoon the Comanches played at home against the Vistabella Conquistadors where they won 8 – 4, 113 shots to 76. The best triple winners were Sandi Knight, John King and Rab Harvey 35 – 9.

The Apaches visited Quesada Swallow, where they had a bad day at the office losing 12 – 0.

We remind you that Wasps sessions take place on Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 2.00pm: €5 for an afternoon of bowling with shoes and bowls available to borrow. Due to the popularity of the Wasps, first time bowlers are asked to attend an initial training session on Tuesday afternoons, starting at 1:45pm, by appointment ONLY. The week started at Quesada Pearls for the Titans, and they took an excellent 8-4 win 97-79 aggregate, S Ellis S Marks R Marks 23-4, D Jones N Prior D Mooney 22-14, N Davis P Riley M Ellis 22-14

The Moonrakers were in San Luis Romulus and fell to an 8-4 loss. Added 65-91 A Westwater J Ingleton M Peaper 20-11, C Wren M Raine K Jones 17-12

The Emperors were at home in the Winter League against El Rancho and emerged victorious with a 10-0 aggregate of 72-47, J Holmyard S Kavanagh M Harley D Mooney 23-14, P Coffey N Prior B Kavanagh C Lindgren 18- 10 , M Oakley S Elvin M Ellis I Grimshaw 18-11, N Davis P Riley S Marks R Marks 13-12

The Cavaliers played as visitors against the St. Louis Lions and were defeated 4-8. Total 73-107 S Kavanagh N Davis M Ellis 24-11, P Coffey S Elvin I Grimshaw 21-20, M Oakley S Elvin M Ellis I Grimshaw 18-11

Highjackers played Tuesday at the Isle and the home team won the Aggregate 96-94 and both teams earned 3 trips.

Mojácar BC visited the Island on Thursday. Great game with home advantage taking the game.

SAPS are on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm

QUESADA BOWLS CLUB November 29

The swifts were home to the Greenland elms. The game was played in great weather for November and in a fantastic atmosphere. The game ended with the Swifts winning on 4 rinks and only 1 loss.

The winners were Chrissie Edwards, Paul Edwards, Peter Bottle, 22 – 10. Sandra Heath, Carl Evans, Steve Hibberd 16 – 13. Joan Inns, Tony Denman, Mike Inns, 14 – 12. Sue Elkington, Brian Elkington, Tony Lale, 29 – 15. Shots were 98 Swifts – 68 Elms, points were 10-2 in favor of Swifts. A big win for the Swifts.

The Swans were at home against the Emerald Isle Cavaliers, winning on 2 rinks and losing on 3. The winners were Jackie Hughes, Elaine Kern, Francois Hubrect, 17 – 14. Joe Kocsis, Dave Gould, Kim Bowles, 19 – 12. The shots were 103 – 73. and a good 8 pts -4 for the Swans.

The Swallows were in the Greenlands Oaks, winning at 3 tracks and losing at 2. The winners were Brian Trinder, Paul Kern, Mel Ward, 23 – 12. Terry Morgan, Claire Dye, Suzi Cooper, 19 – 11. Graham Phillips, George Kershaw , Keith Lowry, 28 – 14. Both shots and points were in favor of Swallows 93 – 80, and a good 8 points -4.

December 2

Rubies was home to Greenlands Beech, winning on 3 tracks and losing on 2. Notable winners were Sandra Heath, Tony Denman, Steve Hibberd, 32 – 6. Alan Johnson, Tony Lale, Suzi Cooper, 15 – 12, John Cleal Max Holmes, Richard Lewin, 17-13. The shots were 94 – 69 and 8 points -4 in favor of Rubies.

Elms visited Quesada Rubies and put up a good fight, but could only stay with 4 to 8 points in favor of Quesada.

The Winter League Gladiators were in Calpe and please say so. We’re back to winning ways once again with an 8-2 win so well done, keep up the good work.

The Oaks took on the Country Bowls Geckos and also had a good 8-4 win. So let’s keep it up now for success in the league standings.

Elms v San Miguel was not good losing 2-10, which didn’t help when two players didn’t show up to play. Please correct your schedules and days to make it easier for the team.

The Cedars traveled to Monte Mar and were all ready for the game and that showed the results by achieving a very well done 12-nil victory and that keeps them on top. Congratulations Cedars.

Vistabella Bowls Club

Vistabella “Greeners” was visiting the San Luis Bowls Club this week in the Summer League. Although the game was played on Monday due to rain, it was played on Thursday on a beautiful sunny morning.

The result was in favor of San Luis with 8 – 4 points and shots San Luis 97 Vistabella 76.

There will be no play next week as the National Competitions will be hosted most of the week by the Vistabella Bowls club starting Sunday morning. Spectators are more than welcome.

La Siesta Bowls anniversary meeting.

It has been a year since La Siesta Bowls Club closed and to commemorate its closure and 48 members to celebrate the closure and get together, they again enjoyed a very nice lunch at Carla’s Bar in El Chaparral. Old and new friends had the opportunity to catch up and share their experiences with their new clubs and remember the good times of the past.

EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB

On Wednesday, the Rustlers were at Emerald Isle playing the Emperors in the winter league and while both teams played well, the Emperors took all four rinks. But the result perhaps did not do justice to the Cuatreros.

On Friday the Mustangs hosted the Panthers Country Bowls, with a strong breeze making line and length difficult to find. But we were in good company and enjoyed the bowling, with some surprises and close lanes. In the end, the Mustangs took the court 3-2, with the Panthers taking the overall shots by a small margin, therefore, the game was tied.

La Marina Bowling Club

Monday’s Enterprise League saw us travel to Greenland where we were beaten 8 points to 4. Our two winning rinks of John Burrell, Norman Ship and Karen Kirk 17 – 12, and Lesley Joynes, David Joynes and Sue Daniels won 21 – 20.

On Friday we hosted Tigres de San Luis in division B. The final score was 6 points each, with La Marina winning 3 points to two, but losing on aggregate.

The winning rinks were Margaret Mclaughlin, Carol Smith and Garth Slater 20 – 18, Barbara Forshaw, Shirley Hadaway and Peter Parsons 17 – 13, and Janet Parsons, Stewart Wright and Barry R 10 – 0.

This result was due to illness and a lost match. Best wishes from everyone at La Marina to the player who fell ill.
