Vinícius Junior has been crowned Best Ibero-American Player of 2024. The prestigious EFE Trophy was presented to him in Valdebebas, at the Real Madrid Sports City, by Miguel Ángel Oliver, president of the EFE Agency, with the presence of his legendary compatriot Roberto Carlos . Roberto Carlos, who previously received the award in 1998, added importance to the moment.
This is Vinícius’ third victory in the EFE Trophy.
“I am very happy to win this award again,” said Vinicius. “I am very happy because I value the season, but I want to remember that without my teammates I could not add this joy. They make things more difficult, and I hope it is not the last, and more awards like this can come. We finished the year with good feelings and we face the new year with a great desire to win more and give our best version.”
Miguel Ángel Oliver praised Vinícius’ incredible season, which has earned him numerous accolades, including FIFA’s The Best award:
“Vinicius, like Roberto Carlos, who you have at your side, your individual and collective successes already place you among the greatest in the history of the club. The EFE award has a long history. You are the seventh Brazilian to have it in your hands and for your performance, your talent and determination on the field you deserve this award.”
After the award, Vinícius met with his teammates to train at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium. The session, attended by more than 5,000 fans, allowed supporters to see Carlo Ancelotti’s team up close as they prepared for the second half of the season over the festive period.
Vinícius Jr. now joins a distinguished list of Brazilian football legends who have won the EFE Trophy, including Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Romário, Ronaldo Nazário, Roberto Carlos and Casemiro.
