Real Madrid beat Levante 6-0 on matchday eight of League F. Below I leave you my opinions and thoughts about the match.
Misa started in goal. The central duo formed by Lakrar and Méndez with Antonia and Olga on the sides made up the defense. It was a 4-4-2 with Leupolz and Teresa in the center, and Athenea and Angeldahl on the wings. Feller and Redondo formed the forward duo.
Las Blancas controlled the match from the beginning. Despite having two wingers on the field, Angeldahl served as left back, working with Olga on open shots and with Teresa at the beginning of the action from behind. Although there weren’t many plays on the right and for Athenea, she got the first two by being on the receiving end in the center of the box.
The match calmed down when it started to look interesting on both sides when Levante goalkeeper Tarazona had a hand in the 1v1 against Feller and received a red card. There was another handball later in the first half, this time inside the penalty area that gave Real Madrid a penalty. Olga took him to the place and skied him.
Feller was substituted at halftime after going down on the last play of the first half. Eva Navarro came up.
Angeldahl no longer gravitated towards the wide areas, as Athenea occupied the left wing position and Navarro moved to the right wing. Later, with the changes, the formation became dynamic and changed with almost every new action.
The substitution of Oihane for Lakrar in the 53rd minute was when the formation became fluid. Oihane played in a back three as a left centre-back, with Méndez in the middle and Antonia as a centre-back. The only support that Navarro had on the right was Leupolz and Antonia at the moments when she left her position to run up. The play gravitated a lot towards the left side with the 4 of Oihane, Olga, Angeldahl and Athenea covering that side.
In the 61st minute, the double substitution of Bruun and Camacho for Redondo and Athenea meant 2 more goals. Angeldahl now moved to the right side, where he was especially active after Leupolz was later replaced by Møller. However, it was not the same dynamic as with Olga and Tere on the left side.
- 12′: GOAL (1-0) by Athenea del Castillo: Carry on the left by Olga followed by a combination with Redondo in the area and then sending a cross to Athenea in the center of the area.
- 45+4′: GOAL (2-0) by Athenea del Castillo: Leupolz recovered the ball that Holmgren kicked to give it to Angeldahl. She ran out, merging with Feller before entering the box, then ran inside, receiving it, and passing it sideways to Athenea.
- 46′: GOAL (3-0) by Alba Redondo: Tere recovered a failed Levante clearance and then sent the ball to Alba who shot into the inside corner. She doesn’t celebrate against her former club.
- 66′: GOAL (4-0) by Teresa Abelleira: What a strike!
- 68′: GOAL (5-0) by Signe Bruun: A solid pass from Navarro to Carla allowed the young woman to approach the goal line, turn and cross towards the center of the area where Bruun was waiting.
- 89′: GOAL (6-0) by Caroline Møller: A great long ball from Angeldahl to Olga who then sent it to Møller who was waiting in front of the goal. With this goal, all the forwards in the squad have made a direct contribution to the goal.
Dropping 3 points to secure second place in the table, going +9 over city rivals Atleti.
