“It means a lot. It was a number I had wanted to reach for a long time. I knew I would reach this number, because as I continue to play, it would happen naturally. Emotion after scoring.
It was emotional, because, as I said, it’s a milestone. It seems like any other milestone, but only I know, and the people around me, how hard it is to work every day, to be physically and psychologically fit, to score the 900th goal. It’s a unique milestone in my career.
What remains to be won by Portugal?
Portugal winning a European Championship is equivalent to winning a World Cup. I have already won two trophies with Portugal, any more would be spectacular. I am not motivated by these reasons, I want to enjoy football, every moment.
Another Record.
Records come naturally, as you know. I don’t break records. Records follow me. That’s why I’m happy. But for me, the most important thing is to emphasise teamwork. After what we did at the European Championship, we had to leave a good mark and that’s what we did.
