Full Match Player Ratings:
Thibaut Courtois—8: He was called upon early in the game to make two crucial saves: one from a Hugo Duro volley and the other from an Andre Almeida header. He made a total of four saves in the game, and Valencia produced eight shots that night.
Lucas Vázquez—4: He turned off after the conceded goal and was unable to locate Hugo Duro at the far post.
Tchouameni—7: He won 7/8 ground duels and all six of his aerial duels. He got the ball out well from the back and looked more confident in the centre-back role.
Antonio Rüdiger—6: A calmer game for Rüdiger, who was hurt on a couple of occasions, including in the final sequence of the game, when Rioja was about to tie.
Ferland Mendy—5: He had little impact both offensively and defensively. I managed just one tackle on the night: no punts, no interceptions, no blocked shots. He provided no threat in the final third, often playing safe lateral passes.
Dani Ceballos—6: The double pivot of Fede and Ceballos was stretched in the first half by an erratic and disjointed pressure scheme. He improved in the second half along with the rest of the team.
Fede Valverde—7: He worked tirelessly on both sides of the ball, but failed to get the best out of his long-range shots despite taking four shots that night.
Judas Bellingham—9: The leader of this team, Jude Bellingham, has been the best player on the team all season and tonight he took a step forward with an assist and a game-winning goal in the 95th minute. Both the assist and the goal came after a missed penalty, proof of his attitude and resistance on the field of play.
Rodrygo—4: He had no impact on the right flank – a poor start to 2025 after a good run in December.
Vinícius Junior—5: He played the first half with an opportunity that the Brazilian is expected to take advantage of. He foolishly pushed Valencia goalkeeper Dimitrievski (albeit slightly and after Dimitrievski’s initial contact) and received a red card. He lost his mind and almost cost the team.
Kylian Mbappé—5: He scored what would have been the first goal of the tie, but it was disallowed for a marginal offside. Other than that, he was calm and showed little movement in the first half.
Substitutions:
Luka Modric—8: He scored the tying goal in the 85th minute with a calm shot, becoming the oldest scorer in Real Madrid history.
Brahim Díaz—7: He won the ball high up the pitch to start the sequence that led to Madrid’s tying goal.
Eduardo Camavinga—7: He far surpassed Mendy’s impact from the left-back position despite playing just 25 minutes.
