Real Madrid has been terrible this season. One of the most pernicious things I’ve seen since the start of this season has been the publication of statistics about how many games we’ve lost in the last 12 months as justification for the horror being inflicted on us.
Barcelona’s drop in form did not help much as it allowed a still mediocre Real Madrid to climb to the top of the table.
This is Real Madrid and there is always hope. We don’t need to lie to ourselves about the current situation.
A man for the big occasion
Vinicius was born for the big stages. Although he is not at his best with the Seleccao, he almost never misses a big day on the white strip. Someone needs to sit down with him and explain to him how the leadership hierarchy works at the Bernabeu. He has earned the respect of his teammates but they will not give him the locker room.
However, on the field of play he remains one of the best in the sport. The disadvantages of his role this season are amplified by a thinner midfield and an overloaded attack in Carlo’s scheme. If a solution is not found, we will continue to fail in important games this season.
