For entertainment purposes: December 30, 2024

To whom It May Concern:

Juninho: This DT week will probably be messy and sometimes half-assed compared to my usual standard. Sometimes life just happens. Sometimes you just don’t have that much free time. However, it is the perfect time since there are not many games. Now I can write whatever I want. King ish… you know?

Welcome to El Merengue Diario — a blog where you can feel free to discuss everything related to football. Don’t be alarmed by the RMCF’s overt bias. It’s in the name!

Shout out to the Mods who do a fantastic job. Valyrian Steel, KungFuZizou, NeRObutBlanco, Felipejack, and Juninho (“GOAT”).

A few words from M91

In football, results are most important to those who have the greatest implications of the result, such as the president, the board of directors, the coaches and the players. If the results are below their expectations, they will lose their jobs. For them, football is purely a results business.

On the other hand, those who are not in that bubble may not prioritize just the bottom line, as it is not a “life or death” scenario for them. It is important for television companies that games are entertaining because it gives them higher ratings and, as a result, greater profits. For fans, along with their team, winning can also mean the importance of being entertained. Watching football is a hobby and a way to get away from the daily hustle and bustle of life.

Ultimately, everyone wants their team to win, but some stakeholders may have other preferences that they combine with results as part of their personal fulfillment.

This was well said by M91 and unfortunately, I don’t really have time to really explain this… Actually, never mind, let’s just lay this out:

A few long words from Juni

Result or Entertainment. Quick summary: A few days ago, I quickly posed the question “if the only thing that matters is the results, why do you watch the games?” and then, as usual, he disappeared from MM for that day. I came back and saw that the comment to some extent took on a life of its own and dragged for a day or two, so it’s about time I answered my own semi-rhetorical question.

Minor adjustment to M91 declaration. Honestly, M91 has a pretty concise commentary on the preferences of important stakeholders in the business of football, and I think the discussion has merit and, for the most part, is pretty accurate. my only mild The challenge is that I’m not entirely sure of the results. in fact issue for the presidents/board of directors of most clubs (in addition to the minimum minimums that depend on the clubs, such as avoiding relegation for the majority). I’d be willing to argue that entertainment actually occupies a much larger percentage of your priority pie chart than the comment suggests. To expand, we must remember that a) football is above all a product of the entertainment industry; b) football is a for-profit business; c) the profits of football clubs are predominantly attributed to television and radio broadcasting deals; and d) football profits actually represent a small percentage of stable annual income. Yes, we can probably make a complicated (albeit complex) argument that winning trophies helps clubs’ brands and then inspires a healthy audience, which then further drives broadcast licenses for leagues, etc., etc. However, I would probably answer that in this digital age. If all Championship-winning teams played like Sean Dyche’s Burnley, profits would drop dramatically. Again, this is the entertainment industry. Football is competing for your weekend attention. Real Madrid not only competes with the Premier League, but with Netflix, Apple Music, your local cinema/park, your partner, restaurants, etc, etc, etc. If the product you see is unsatisfactory, most viewers will simply do something else.

Now, if you don’t completely believe me on this simple analysis for a much more complex topic (apologies, I don’t really have time to delve into this), I think it would behoove readers to not just review what may seem like harmless rule changes to create more goals (e.g. Wenger’s offside rule), but Florentino Pérez’s language during the first iteration of the Super League. These are corporate executives who understand that entertainment It’s the only thing that keeps this business afloat.

Actually, real quick: here are some of Flo’s quotes:

“You have to generate profitable income by producing more competitive games. When you have no income other than streaming rights, you come up with a solution to produce more attractive games. that allow fans from all over the world to see the big clubs play against each other.”

“Football is starting to lose interest, Audiences are going down and so are television rights, Something had to be done and the pandemic accelerated this process. Without change, we are ruined. Fans between 16 and 24 years old are not interested in football. 40% of young people are not interested in football because there are too many low-quality games. It’s in all the statistics and studies. Teenagers today are more interested in video games than footballand we have to do something to get them back. “We had to adapt.”

Your attention. Again I ask: why do you watch these games? Personally, I think everyone hope to get results, but in reality look for entertainment and entertainment only. I think I said this in another DT (or many DTs) but for fans we are simply watching television or a movie. If the conclusion of a movie was the only thing that mattered to us, the audience, we would just fast forward to the last 5 minutes and credits. We had read the conclusion in the Wikipedia summary instead of sitting for over 2 hours to see if Paul Atreidies really is the Lisan Al-Ghaib. In many ways, that’s football. Yes, I think we all want to see Madrid win and we are willing to accept horrible football to justify the ability to brag to our friends that Real has 15 CL. But I’m not sure if we really sat for more than 90 minutes just to see the result.

In fact, we sit and observe a process that we hope will conclude with a victory. Otherwise, why not check the results in an app?

OK Fast News from Madrid:

Don’t trust AS. I wish Madrid news aggregators still took the time to publish the reliability of authors when it comes to transfer rumours, but the proper source was lost a long time ago in MadridXtra/MadridZone and God forbid you read MadridUniversal. In any case, don’t trust diaroAS for transfer rumors. They have been incredibly wrong about the rumors for the better part of 1.5-3 years.

January coming soon. As in the Kylian Mbappe Winter 2023 saga, a lot of news regarding pre-contracts for TAA + Alphonso Davies is expected to arrive in January. From Juninho’s perspective, I’m pretty confident in TAA coming to Madrid (even the English experts seem to grudgingly accept him leaving), but I’m 60/40 with Davies. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that Davies will really remain loyal to Bayern and will continue there for at least another 4 or 5 years (health permitting).

Back to Business. The season is really about to begin.

Blue suede for Gang’nem || Peace from me.

“Come on, I have a MM house full of posts and it’s like this. House full of pain and be it so. He fell out of love and it will be like that. Coral full of modifications but be it that way. My faith is gone and that’s how it is. He disappeared many times and will be like that. I bled for the gang and be it so, I died in many ways and be it so.

It’s like… wait… it grew up around beef for so long it looks like a pie. Soon I bring God and we part. you have lost friends It came up the same day. I cut the tips with fish that will not change. I don’t buy enough bait to fish and push P. Try to stay self-aware within me. I ran through the streets of MM until I cleared my name. The only mod that gives DT mods a new scene. I finished checking off your MM dream lists. Cats don’t deserve the fish I bring. Cats don’t earn the ash I burn. Little friend, stand tall and firm. Either we destroy them or they serve us. Keep trying not to align yourself with things that don’t work.”
