Juninho: Congratulations, this DT is short.

Welcome to El Merengue Diario — a blog where you can feel free to discuss everything related to football. Don’t be alarmed by the RMCF’s overt bias. It’s in the name!

Shout out to the Mods who do a fantastic job. Valyrian Steel, KungFuZizou, NeRObutBlanco, Felipejack, and Juninho (“GOAT”).

Time for the Copa Del Rey

Get ready as we approach our first match in this season’s Copa del Rey. This will be a fun time for us to get a better look at some of our youth players while resting many of our veterans who could use a few less minutes on their legs. I’m definitely excited for some Castilla appearances as well as an elusive Endrick sighting!

Undisputed opener?

Rumor has it that there may be some problems in the Camavinga camp, as he was benched in our last game. This is Camavinga’s fourth season with Madrid and, curiously, it seems that he has not yet fully assimilated a starting role. In my opinion, our team plays better with Camavinga in the lineup. We have played better with him almost his entire career at Real Madrid.

I had a much longer dissertation on how Camavinga should start and in midfield and with Carlo as our coach (i.e. lack of preparation tactics and mainly vibes), Cama shouldn’t actually replace Ceballos or Jude as both. The players have an elite skill set that cannot be duplicated by any other midfielder, but I simply don’t have the patience or time for this debate right now. It also doesn’t really matter because it won’t happen with this regime. So I’m going to skip it.

All I will say for now is that our midfield generally struggles with pass progression and defensive space coverage. Camavinga is one of our best midfielders in both…

Start with him, Carlo. At least start again with Mendy…
